Daddy Got One!!!!

Unfortunately my Daddy grew up, for the most part, in a city and because of that had never gone hunting until I was 14 or so.Even now he has only gone out a few times (due to our weird schedule). However, This Friday and Saturday our family went hunting on a friends land in Randleman,NC and Saturday evening my Daddy got his first deer!!!!!!!
We were all so excited for him! He shot a good size doe through her chest 15 min. before the end of legal hunting time! Long story short, we were all proud of our "Mighty Hunter" and took a deer home to pay for our gas expenses!!!!!

A Wonderful Opportunity

Since thanksgiving is this Thursday I figured I'd snatch this opportunity to praise my saviour a little. God has been soo good to me there is just no way I could list everything I'm thankful for. Just a few things are, He saved me at 6 years old and has protected me since then, He took the broken pieces of my family and miraculously put us back together, He has given me the privilege to grow up in a good home and get a good education, He placed my family in a good church, He has blessed us with an abundance of things, He keeps my family healthy, He gave my dad a good job, He has given me and my brothers talents and the opportunity to develop them, Our Lord has been right beside us through thick and thin, He's never left us alone or destitute, He has gone out of His way to make sure we stay on the right path, He blessed us with good neighbors and faithful friends, He gave me the privilege of being born in the good ol' USA were I have the freedom to worship Him and read His word, God has given us His Holy Spirit Through which He comforts us and guides us, He covers me with His wings when I'm weary, Hides me in the cleft of His Rock when I'm scared, Understands when I can't explain it, He hears me when I just need to talk, He caries me when the mire is too high for me to wade through, Praise God he gives me hope and a purpose, He is my lively hope, my hope of heaven and rest and salvation. Don't think that He is my hope in the sense that He is something I hope is real because I know He is real for I've witnessed His works and feel His presence in my life everyday.
Dear reader, you may think I'm stupid or crazy, that I've bought in to some sort of lie or whatever, and that's alright. May God open your eyes to His love for you and soften your heart towards Him. I sure would love to stroll over heaven with you. Until then I'll just keep on walkin' this way and prayin' for you.
May God bless all of y'all and give you a happy Thanks giving!!!

Fall Gardening

This year we decided to grow kale in our fall garden along with broccoli, spinach and lettuce. We harvested a little kale the other day and boy was it good! Mama baked it on her pizza stone; the flavors all blended so well I couldn't tell what seasonings and things she put on it. Me and Dad both enjoyed it but, my brothers who are a little skeptical about green things didn't like it.
The rest of our garden is doing good. The broccoli are starting to get tall now and the spinach and lettuce just got their true leaves a couple weeks ago.The asparagus we planted last year will be salted this month and should be ready to harvest sometime next spring.
Our garden projects this fall are to get raised beds built for next spring and cold frames put together so we can start seeds early next year.
I love gardening and can't wait to see how ours will turn out this fall!

Why Chocolate?

What makes girls like chocolate so much? There's sooo many things too choose from; bubble gum, jolly ranchers, dum dums, candy corn, mints, and much much more! I guess it could be the bliss of sweet creaminess melting in your mouth or the delight of a moderate sugar rush. Who knows! All I know is I'd rather have chocolate!!!

Christmas first then Thanks Giving

Isn't it odd how people prepare for Christmas in October. Then they take a break for Thanks Giving and after the turkey is gone, off to work they go. Shopping for good sales ahead of time, creating new decorations, planning the meal or the trip, or whatever just to "beat the rush" of last minute Christmas traffic. I guess there is some logic to that since, after all they do get better deals for less stress! Well, it just so happens that I'm one of those odd folks too, only with out the shopping. I've decided to make everybody Christmas gifts this year in order to save money(that I don't have anyway). If I was just buying stuff I probably would've procrastinated my Christmas preps to December 1st at the earliest! This year I'm sewing,crocheting,and...well...making things for my family and friends! I think this will be fun, we'll just wait to see how it all turns out :)
